Day 1 July 28th 2011
This trip started with the ferry to Gdansk from Stockholm ( 18 hours..) after unloading in the rain, I continued on the E28 to Szczecin at the German border. The distance is around 395, and a lot of round abouts, stop and go traffic. At 18:00 I reach Germany and blasted down the autobahn towards Berlin and my first hotel, one has to be a bit regulated in Germany...you get a bit speed blind.
Tomorrow I'll push on to Heidelberg.

Over night in Heidelberg, then on to Geneva. I cant wait to get off the Autobahn....its boring. I plan to do the smaller roads from Geneva to Grenoble, then pick up the N85 ( route Napoleon further south.
The bikes running great, but the chain needs a lot of attention...

Hi, sorry for the time gap. Internet can be a problem in France....
The ride from Castellane to Frejus was nice, I took the lower road along the Verdon river at the north end of the Gorge (Grand Canyon) that swings through the hill country above the Var region, beautiful ride early in the morning.
Then I pushed on from Draguignan to Saint Raphael and Frejus. It was so warm on the coast, I didn't bother with checking into the hotel, I banged down to the little beach at Agay thats south of Frejus and jumped in the water......sat there until 17:00.

Frejus to Orange
It was already 26C at 07:30 so I'll use the motorway to Arles from Frejus... as the temperature will hit 33 by mid day. Its not much to look at, but quick.
From Arles ( see map) north I'll take the cut off at Pont -ST-Esprit that leads to the Gorge Ardeche.

If anyone is planning a ride in France, this area should be seen....fantastic.
I have saved the routes ( Geneve,Grenoble,Gap,Castellane, Verdon, Frejus. with GPS if needed.

Well, home again in Södermalm. 6780km...and its seems like a dream. I'll need a new chain and sprockets as they were worn anyway before I left. Overall it was a beautiful trip, no problems with the bike or cops... and the other bikers I meet along the way were super.
I hope to do another trip next year, maybe Yugoslavia and the Balkans.
